If one had to identify a common denominator to all the research topics of the PhD project in Germanic and Slavic Studies, it would most likely be the marked (inter-)cultural and interdisciplinary connotation. The PhD program in Germanic and Slavic Studies, although embedded in literary studies, crosses many different fields and approaches, taking into account the numerous intersections between history, literature, language, culture, geography, and anthropology. Moreover, the historical and political significance of the literary text is always
present and crucial.
